Recipes for Desperate Times: Folk Recipes for the Long Dark is a a short collection of recipes and food folklore.

This zine was produced, in part, to raise funds to replace my unpaid wages from the closure of a popular vegan restaurant in Summer 2024. As I collected some of my favourite recipes and lore, a theme emerged: these are recipes for desperate times. There have been so many and will be so many more desperate times. I hope these recipes will be a reminder of those that came before and who weathered desperate times with their community.

This is the time for strengthening the bonds that will get us through scarcity, through the long cold dark. Though it was desperation that began the process of putting this zine together - these are festive and fanciful recipes for feasting and celebration.

Inner printed on regular multipurpose white paper, cover printed on 120gsm moss green or sand textured art paper.

Priced as standard at £7, with the option to add illustrated recipe cards. I am not currently offering an unwaged price, but the PDF is available for free on my Substack.
